(1 unit)
Teaching about Germany: The Holocaust to the Present

In this course Germany will be studied, beginning with the events leading to the Holocaust and ending with issues confronting Germany at the present time. Special emphasis will be placed on current events and problems in Germany with respect to its relationship with the United States and the international community. All participants are encouraged to apply for a scholarship to visit Germany during the summer of 2010. The scholarship provides an all expenses paid visit to Germany for two weeks. The visit will be hosted by Atlantik-Brucke Institut. During the visit teachers will meet with government officials, educators, business leaders and historians. Special cultural events will allow participants to experience the daily life of a German citizen. For more information please e-mail Tom Sorosiak at tjsoros@aol.com.

Affecting Student Engagement Through Technology

Engaged students are enthusiastic, active participants in their own learning. In this 4-week class we will explore a variety of ways to increase student engagement through the use of teaching and learning technologies. Digital media can enhance a course and provide meaningful student-teacher connections. The goal of this class will be to explore strategies to provide your students with experiences that will engage them and help them succeed while providing enough challenges to help them grow. For more information please e-mail Dr. Terry Herman at hermant@bgsu.edu.

TECH 6820 (1 unit)
Technology Trends for 21st Century Learners

You will learn about personalized learning environments (RSS Feeds, Aggregators like NetVibes, PageFlakes, and others). You will organize a page where you can keep up with all of the blogs that you read, instead of visiting every single one to see if there have been any new posts. Social bookmarking will be a part of this class too (Delicious and others). This class will help teachers stay current with teaching and learning trends, technology, and other issues by aggregating data into a central web site. For more information please e-mail Dr. Terry Herman at hermant@bgsu.edu.
